He Did It Again
Some strategists say Joe Biden’s so-called basement strategy is working. Well, perhaps if he doesn’t do interviews from there.
There was the celebrated “C’mon Man” incident earlier in the week when a black journalist asked him about taking a cognitive test, and Biden took offense and oddly asked if the journalist had taken a drug test before the interview.
Then came an exchange with an NPR reporter, a Latina. Here’s the quote, which was released yesterday: “By the way, what you all know but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.”
Coming as it did on the heels of his “you ain’t black” comment earlier in the summer…it’s disturbing. Black people all think alike, but Latinos don’t. Got it.
Of course, his staff soon issued a tweet in his name explaining the comment and assuring everyone that he does not think African-Americans all think or vote alike.
But there’s no doubt another interview around the corner. So we’ll see.
