Rush to the Courthouse

The old saying is that the only things certain in life are death and taxes.

Add to that the certainty that those on the left will run to the courthouse and file a lawsuit if they have any hint that their ability to terminate a pregnancy is being limited, even in a time of global pandemic.

You heard Governor Kim Reynolds tell me on KXEL last Friday that her order prohibiting elective surgical procedures in the state would apply to most abortions. That was all certain left-wing groups needed to hear, and they rushed to file a lawsuit challenging the restrictions on Monday.

Keep in mind, the governor’s order simply indicated that elective non-essential procedures were to be halted so that the personal protective equipment used in those procedures could be used to fight the coronavirus.

An emergency hearing was scheduled for yesterday, and only a minute in, those on the left who were suing said they’d reached an agreement with the state’s lawyers. The agreement was them admitting that, in their words, the governor’s proclamation was “more nuanced” than they had realized. It did not prohibit abortions, and the determination of what is a medically necessary procedure is still up to a doctor.

In other words, they conceded that they didn’t even read the proclamation or consider anything other than insidious motives by the governor.

Ironic that they are fighting to have personal protective equipment used to take a life when the goal was to use it to preserve a life.
