After it was close much of the way, the Missouri State Bears pulled away from the UNI Panther women’s basketball team for a 66-55 result on Friday night at the McLeod Center.
It is the first home loss of the season for UNI and gives Missouri State a sweep of the regular season series.
UNI trailed by three at halftime before Nicole Kroeger’s try from behind the arc tied the score with the first points of the third quarter. However, a converted Missouri State free throw less than a minute later put the Bears back in front the rest of the way. The Panthers trailed by no more than nine in the third quarter, but the Bears led much of the final period by double-digits.
UNI was just 8-for-22 from the field in the second half.
Karli Rucker led the Panthers with 13 points while Cynthia Wolf added 10 points.
The Panthers started the season with eight consecutive home wins, the longest home winning streak to start a season since 1980-81 when UNI won their first 10 home games.
The loss dropped the Panthers to 13-8 and 5-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
