Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart this(Tues) morning announced his endorsement of Democrat Pete Buttigieg for President.
According to a release from the former South Bend, Indiana mayor’s campaign, Hart cited Buttigieg’s efforts to bring his own community together, after being named by a national magazine as one of America’s “dying cities.”
The release goes on to quote Hart saying that Buttigieg “is running to bring the same transformative approach he brought to his city, to our country…and I’m proud to stand alongside him in that effort.” “I know that Pete won’t forget places like Waterloo because he comes from one.”
Buttigieg is quoted in the release as saying he’s honored to have Mayor Hart’s support and his endorsement. In his words, “I look forward to Mayor Hart joining me on the campaign trail across Iowa in the coming weeks.”
(Buttigieg is one of six Democrats to qualify for tonight’s final debate before the February 3rd Iowa caucuses. The others are Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Tom Steyer, Joe Biden and Amy Klobuchar).
