No UNI volleyball coach has more wins than Bobbi Petersen after Friday’s four-set road victory over Illinois State. The Panthers then pushed her career total to 505 with an exciting follow-up on Saturday versus Bradley.
Friday’s win came with set scores of 22-25, 26-24, 28-26, 25-12, avenging UNI’s only Missouri Valley Conference loss after the Redbirds had prevailed in five sets on October 12th.
The Panthers recorded 21 total blocks, the first time the Panthers achieved the 20-block threshold since 2011. Karlie Taylor led the way with two solo blocks and three block assists.
Taylor also recorded her 19th double-double of the season with 22 kills and 23 digs. Freshman Kaylissa Arndofer finished with 12 kills, while Kate Busswitz had 11.
With the win, Petersen surpassed Iradge Ahrabi-Fard as the UNI all-time wins leader.
Still on the road Saturday, the Panthers had to come from behind to prevail in five sets against Bradley, 16-25, 27-25, 26-28, 25-20, 15-11.
UNI reached the 20-block threshold again, out-blocking the Braves 20-17.
Inga Rotto starred with 19 kills and 7 blocks (three solo and four block assists). Taylor had 14 kills, moving into third all-time in career kills for the program and surpassing Petersen.
Next, the Panthers travel to Des Moines for an in-state battle with the Drake Bulldogs Friday.
