Waterloo Council Gives Green Light for Red Light Cams
0 0

The Waterloo City Council silently gave the green light yesterday(Mon) to Police Chief Dan Trelka to install red light cameras to catch & ticket those who don’t stop when they’re supposed to.

During a work session yesterday(Mon) afternoon, the Council also agreed by consensus to let Trelka use portable speed-measuring equipment in the same way.

Trelka called the violations a safety issue. However, he admitted they're also a revenue generator.

He says he'd like to start with the red light cameras on six "problem," intersections. He suggested 60 to $70 fines for violations.
