Waterloo PD Again Seeks Federal Option for Gun Crime
0 0

A Waterloo man has been charged with a federal crime, in connection with a gun found in his home following a standoff with police last June.

Jyshawn Robertson, 19, is accused of being a prohibited person in possession of firearms and ammunition. Originally, he’d been arrested on a misdemeanor state charge of assault.

Waterloo police were called to Robertson’s house in the 200 block of Newell Street, after he allegedly hit someone with a bottle. Others in the house fled and a brief standoff followed, in which Robertson threatened to harm himself and shoot police, if they entered the house. Robertson eventually surrendered and when police searched the home they found a 9-millimeter rifle, ammunition and marijuana.

About a month before the incident, Robertson and a woman were shot in the legs in that same 200 block of Newell…and Robertson is awaiting trial right now in connection with a shooting in February in which he and two friends were shot at and then fired back.
