One of Eastern Iowa’s most popular talk show hosts is returning to the radio next month.
News/Talk 1540 KXEL, Waterloo/Cedar Falls/Cedar Rapids announces the addition of Bob Bruce to its weekday lineup. “The Bob Bruce Radio Experience” will air live from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday following the live broadcast of “The Rush Limbaugh Show”.
“I can hardly wait to get back to Eastern Iowa and pick up the conversation with folks who have listened to the BBRE for years,” Bruce said. The Decorah native has hosted radio programs in his home state for the past 15 years.
Bruce’s afternoon talk show was one of the most listened to radio programs in Iowa over the past decade prior to his departure to Omaha less than a year ago.
“One of our top priorities is adding live, local programming to KXEL” said program director Jeff Stein. “Reconnecting Bob Bruce with his thousands of Cedar Valley and Corridor listeners every afternoon is a big part of that.”
Bruce’s program will focus on issues and events of importance to Eastern Iowans, including interviews with a wide range of newsmakers. Listener phone calls and interaction will also be a large part of the program, along with frequent news and weather updates from the KXEL News Center.
“Bob Bruce is a rare talent and a major part of our plan to make KXEL even more responsive to its audience and their interests,” said NRG market manager Jack Taddeo.
KXEL is also the flagship station for University of Northern Iowa sports broadcasts.
News/Talk 1540 KXEL is owned by Iowa-based NRG Media and operates from studios in downtown Waterloo along with companion stations 105.7 KOKZ/Iowa’s Classic Hits, ROCK 108/Iowa’s Pure Rock, and 107.3 The Party/Today’s Hit Music.
