Type of helmets doesn't impact concussions

A study shows the concussion risk for high school football players doesn't change, depending on the brand or age of their helmet.

UW Health worked with 34 schools, and followed nearly 2,100 players over two years.

Sports medicine researcher Tim McGuine is the co-author. He says he did the study after fielding questions from coaches about claims that some helmets were better.

About nine percent of the players in the study suffered a concussion during the two years.
