Des Moines police shoot driver after pinning officer

Des Moines police say they shot a Minneapolis man who struck an officer with his car in a parking lot.

Sgt. Jason Halifax says officers contacted 34-year-old Leroy Bradley at the Cozy Rest Motel early Monday, and he tried to flee in his car.  As he drove off, he allegedly hit officer Dusty Rains, pinning her against her patrol car.

Halifax says Rains and officer Shawn Herman shot Bradley, who drove away before surrendering to other officers.

Rains' injuries aren't considered major.  Bradley was hospitalized, but his injuries weren't life threatening.

The officers will be placed on administrative leave.

The suspect's vehicle was reported stolen from Minnesota.

Bradley will be charged with theft, assault, eluding and pandering, as police allege Bradley brought women to Des Moines for prostitution.
