Dubuque jail inmate fails to return from furlough

Dubuque authorities are searching for an inmate who failed to return from a 48-hour jail furlough.

The Dubuque County Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old Erick Burkholder was allowed to leave the jail Thursday morning to attend a family member's funeral, and was supposed to report back by 6 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say Burkholder is serving a 240-day sentence for domestic assault and public intoxication, third or subsequent offense.  Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Dubuque County Sheriff Capt. Mike Muenster at 563-589-4405.
