Domestic partner registry survives challenge

The state's high court upheld Wisconsin domestic partner registry in a ruling today.

A group challenged the registry, claiming that it violated the state's ban on gay marriage, or similar arrangements. Justices disagreed with that argument.

A spokeswoman for the gay-rights group Fair Wisconsin says the decision is a victory, but their main focus is on a federal case that could throw out the same-sex marriage ban. A federal judge ruled that the ban is unconstitutional...and an appeals court will hear arguments in that case, in late August.
