Rescued kayakers released from hospital

A Texas woman, her son, and an Illinois boy are out of a hospital, after they were rescued from their kayaks, off the shore of Green Bay, in Door County.

Sheriff's officials say 43-year-old Allison Alter, her nine-year-old son, Zach, and nine-year-old Thomas Alter were treated for mild hypothermia.

The Coast Guard spotted them early this morning from a helicopter. They left from Nicolet Bay in Peninsula State Park yesterday afternoon. The kayak rental company called authorities about 6:30 last night, when they didn't return.

Sheriff's officials say they were found about 14 miles from shore, with their two kayaks tethered together.
