Two women from Shell Rock have been charged with one count of lottery theft.

On June 6th, 2013, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible theft at the AI Gas Station, located at 1069 230th Street in Waverly.  An investigation was initiated by Bremer County and investigators from the Iowa Lottery Commission.

The ownership and management of the store had been in transition during this time and has since closed.

This investigation recently culminated in the arrest of two former employees of the store, 52-year-old Julie Dietz and 45-year-old Julie Alford.

Both women surrendered themselves to the Bremer County Jail where they were booked into jail, seen by the magistrate and released on their own recognizance.

Dietz was charged June 27th, Alford on July 10th.
