Brewers power past Padres

Home runs by Jean Segura and Khris Davis helped push the Milwaukee Brewers past the San Diego Padres 5-2 in their series finale at Miller Park on Wednesday night.  After both teams traded runs in the opening inning, Jean Segura smacked 3-run homer in the second to give the Brewers a 4-1 lead.  In the fourth, Khris Davis then added an insurance run on a deep solo home run to left to extend the lead 5-1.  The Padres would add another run in the seventh on a Nick Hundley pinch-hit RBI single, but the Brewers shutout the Padres the rest of the game to pick up their fifth win in the last 6 games.  Kyle Lohse (4-1) allowed five hits and no walks in seven innings, while giving up two runs with one earned.  Francisco Rodriguez came in and pitched a scoreless ninth for his ninth save of the season.  With the win, the Brewers remain ahead in the majors with the best record at 16-6 on the season.

The Brewers have off on Thursday, but begin a series with the Chicago Cubs on Friday night at Miller Park.  Pregame begins at 6:35pm, with first pitch at 7:10pm on 1150-WHBY.
