G.B. sets record for sub-zero days

A 37-year-old weather record fell this morning in Green Bay.

Meteorologist Roy Eckberg of the National Weather Service's office in Green Bay says today marks the 49th day this winter with sub-zero temperatures. The previous record of 48 was set during the winter of 1976-77.

Eckberg says we'll see some more sub-zero this weekend, but then we should get a little relief.

Appleton's record for sub-zero days is 48, and it was set during the winter of 1916-17. Eckburg says the city is sitting at 43 days right now, and it will likely come very close to that number.
