Parking fines down, revenue flat in Appleton

The city of Appleton collected less money in parking fines last year, but overall revenues were nearly even with the prior year.

The parking utility is reporting more than $2.3 million dollars in revenue. That's about $500 less than 2012.

Public works director Paula Vandehey says they had an increase in permit sales. She says that's good, because permits are a more stable source of revenue.

People paid nearly $440,000 in parking fines last year, and that's down almost 10 percent from 2012.
