Prof: Speech could preview Walker campaign

Governor Walker will give his annual State of the State speech tonight, and a political science professor expects it will be a preview of his re-election campaign.

Professor Charles Franklin runs the Marquette law school's political poll, and he says the governor will likely emphasize a growing surplus.

The projected surplus is around $912 million. The governor is expected to lay out a plan to cut income and property taxes by $504 million.

He's looking to reduce property taxes by $101 dollars for the owner of a typical home. Walker also wants to lower the bottom tax bracket, to save people between $44 and $58.

WHBY will carry the State of the State speech, starting at 7 p.m.
