Kids vs. Cops Dodge Ball Tournament

Event Date: January, 31 2014

Event Times: 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm

There will be no need for concern when members of the Cedar Rapids Police Department (CRPD) descend on Harding Middle School on Friday, January 31, 2014.

That’s the date of the seventh annual Kids vs. Cops Dodge Ball Tournament.  The annual event, organized by the Harding Student Council, benefits the CRPD K-9 Unit to assist with the purchase and training of dogs and necessary equipment (such as protective vests) for the dogs.

Officers and students participate in a friendly competition that helps to build relationships and trust between officers and kids.  The event allows police officers to meet students on their home court in a non-threatening situation (where it becomes difficult to tell whether the students or the officers are having more fun).

The event will be held from 1 – 2:45 p.m. in the school gymnasium.  Representatives from the CRPD, including the K-9 unit, will participate the tournament, and the dogs will be on site.  The cost is $3.00 to watch or play.  The school raised $2,000 in 2013.
Join the fun at Harding Middle School, 4801 Golf St. NE, in Cedar Rapids!
