The Crawdad Kids. Kelsie Durscher of Wavery, IA, and Therin Bradshaw of Port Byron, Ill, are students at Wartburg College working on a summer research project that tracks the voracious Rusty Crayfish. It's in the Cedar River and doesn't belong here. As the students explain, if we don't protect against this lobster wannabe, it could disrupt the whole food chain in the Cedar Valley. These students are so good that their research may be adopted as current science. Next, they file their report with the Iowa DNR.
