Public Safety Officer Opponents Sires & Harding Win CF Run-Off Elections

The two men who won in yesterday’s(Tues) Cedar Falls City Council run-off elections, both oppose the Public Safety Officer…or PSO…program, in which police officers are cross-trained as firefighters.

In the at-large race, which is citywide, Dave Sires received 2,337 votes to Nick Taiber’s 2,104…and Sires said in an interview with KXEL’s Mark Morris that he’s working on a plan to reverse the program and go back to separate police and fire departments.

In the other run-off, incumbent 4th Ward Councilman Dave Blanford lost to challenger Simon Harding, 378 votes to 272.
