VB: Panthers Downed by Ranked Opposition

The UNI Panthers hosted three top-25 opponents at the McLeod Center over the weekend for the only non-conference matches on the 2019 home schedule.
The visitors came out on top each time.
Friday evening, #23 Creighton prevailed in five sets 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 18-25, 15-11. 
The Panthers’ Kate Busswitz had a strong performance days after being named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week.  Busswitz finished with 19 kills on 25 total attacks for a team leading .457 hitting percentage.  Karlie Taylor led the Panthers in kills, ending the night with 29. 
Saturday morning, the #15 USC Trojans overcame a first set loss, claiming the victory 23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-22.
Taylor led the Panthers offensively, recording 24 kills.  Rachel Koop finished with 36 assists while leading the team digs with 17.
The weekend wrapped up with a three-set loss to #12 Kentucky, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20.
The Panthers registered an attack percentage of just .092 to the Wildcats’ .263.
UNI sees another major conference opponent for their next match Tuesday against Iowa State in Ames.
