If you live in Waterloo, Hudson, Raymond, Elk Run Heights, Washburn, or any other place that gets its water from Waterloo Water Works, your rates will be going up 2% next January.
The utility’s board of trustees voted unanimously yesterday(Wed) to raise the quarterly charge for a household using 4,000 gallons a month from $43.31-per-quarter to $44.17. That does not include the city’s sewer, garbage and storm-water fees, which are on the same bill.
To put things in perspective, the Water Works board raised rates a combined total of about 15% in 2018 and 2019. The utility says it has a to-do list that will cost about $60-million.
