NWS Says it’s Official: Central Iowa Saw Three Tornadoes Tuesday

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP/KCRG) – The National Weather Service in Des Moines confirms that three tornadoes occurred in central Iowa on Tuesday morning.

A tornado in Marion County near Tracy was on the ground from 6:21 a.m. to 6:23 a.m. It was rated an EF-1 with estimated wind speeds of 110 mph. It was on the ground for 1.5 miles and had a maximum width of 150 yards.

Another tornado occurred at Badger Creek State Park in Madison County. The Weather Service has not yet surveyed the damage from this tornado.

The third tornado happened in Lacona.
