Cedar Falls Public Safety Department Maintains ISO Rating

It’s not a perfect score…that would be a “1”…but the City of Cedar Falls Public Safety Department has again earned an Insurance Services Office rating of “3,” which City Administrator Ron Gaines says puts the combination fire and police departments in the top 3 1/2% of more than 1,600 Iowa departments.

The 3 ISO rating is the same as Cedar Falls had received the last time it was surveyed and Fire Chief John Bostwick says the City couldn’t do it without the so-called public safety model, which cross-trains firefighters and police officers, and makes it possible for more qualified personnel to respond to fire scenes, currently an average of more than 10, compared to a minimum of six (according to the City) in 2013.
