The Cedar Falls City Council will use its 6:05 Committee-of-the-Whole meeting tonight(Mon) to talk about so-called “small cell,” guidelines, before voting on them during the regular meeting at 7.
Often placed on top of street lights or other city utility poles, small cells are low-power, cellular radio access relays, that enhance data transfer speeds and improve coverage for internet & cellular devices.
If the Cedar Falls council approves the resolution, businesses would pay a $500 application fee for installation, but when five-or-more are submitted at the same time, for the provider and with the same information, the first application would be $500 and the others would be $100 apiece. There’ll also be a $270-a-year usage fee for the equipment.
The Cedar Falls council tonight(Mon) will also consider a second reading of the College Hill parking ordinance.
