During a single-game week, the UNI Women’s Basketball team suffered just their second road loss during the conference schedule, falling to in-state rival Drake, 76-61 on Friday.
Karli Rucker tied her career-high with 25 points and also contributed seven assists, three rebounds and a steal, but four Drake players scored in double figures.
The Bulldogs jumped ahead with the first eight points of the game, but the Panthers had pulled in front 18-17 by the end of the opening quarter.
After trading buckets early in the second, the Bulldogs went on a 12-0 run to take a 35-25 lead and never looked back. Drake led by as many as 20 in the second half. Becca Hittner led the balanced Bulldog attack with 19.
Besides Rucker’s 25 points, Mikaela Morgan added 12 for UNI.
The Panthers are now 15-9 overall and 8-4 in Missouri Valley Conference play. UNI hosts four of their final six MVC regular season games, beginning with Indiana State Friday.
