Springville Bank Robber Gets Five Years in Federal Prison

A Monticello man who robbed a bank in Springville last year on his 46th birthday, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.   Joseph Kripner entered the Security State Bank last June 1st, displayed what appeared to be a gun to a teller, and told her not to make him point the weapon at her.  She gave him close to $4,000 in a plastic shopping bag and he took off.

With the help of a Crime-stoppers tip, police were able to compare photos of Kripner on his Facebook page with surveillance footage from the bank, and both showed a distinctive red lips tattoo on the right side of his neck.

He was eventually caught at Rocky Mountain State Park in Colorado.  In addition to his federal prison time, Kripner will have to serve three years of supervised release when he gets out, and he was also ordered to pay restitution in the exact amount of money he stole from the bank — $3,988.
