After staying near .500 throughout their conference schedule, the UNI Panther men’s basketball team now faces a bigger gap from breakeven than they have seen all winter.
Wednesday night, the Panthers fell to the visiting Bradley Braves 79-71.
Just eight minutes into the game, the Braves led the Panthers, 20-6. A slow but steady comeback for UNI tied the game at 27-27 with 4:54 remaining in the half, before the Braves took a 36-34 lead into halftime.
Bradley shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and made six of their 10 three-pointers to pull away.
AJ Green led UNI with 24 points, making nine of his 19 shots. Senior Wyatt Lohaus was the only other Panther in double digits on the night, finishing with 12.
Saturday, four Panthers scored in double digits but UNI fell 83-77 to Drake.
The Panthers and Bulldogs traded leads the entire first half, but Drake took a four-point lead to the locker room.
UNI tied the game in the first minute of the second half but were unable to keep pace with the Bulldogs. The Panthers tied the game 61-61 with 8:42 left but were unable to hold off the Drake in the closing minutes.
The Panthers were loose with the ball on Saturday, recording 14 turnovers.
Green finished with 19 points and a team-high five assists.
The Panthers are now 10-15 overall and 5-7 in the MVC. UNI faces Illinois State on Wednesday in the McLeod Center.
