Waterloo-Cedar Falls Salvation Army Now Taking Coin Bids

The bell-ringers with the iconic red kettles have done their job, but the Salvation Army of Waterloo-Cedar Falls needs more time to meet its Christmas goal of $631,000.

They’re still $137,000 short, so the Cedar Valley chapter will be auctioning off the special items found in the kettles during the holiday aeason.

Among the valuable coins up for public bid through January 18th at noon are 12, one-ounce American Gold Eagle coins…a one-ounce Gold Maple Leaf coin…eight, one-ounce American Silver Buffalo coins…eight one-ounce fine silver bars with various designs…three one-ounce fine silver coins…and a one-ounce American Silver Eagle coin.

Straight donations may also be made through January 31st in person, at 89 Franklin Street in Waterloo, by mail at P.O. Box 867, Waterloo, 50704, or on-line at www.sawaterloo.org.
