The UNI Panthers surprised the Bradley Braves Wednesday on the road, but the Salukis of Southern Illinois were prepared when they came to the McLeod Center on Sunday.
Opening the Missouri Valley Conference schedule in Peoria, the Panthers took control of the game during the latter minutes of the first half. Tied 17-17, the Panther offense took off, adding 17 points in the last 7:12 to take a 34-24 lead into halftime.
The Panthers continued to maintain a healthy margin throughout the 65-47 victory.
Isaiah Brown and Trae Berhow led the Panthers in scoring, each finishing with 14 points and both shooting .500 from the field.
Saturday’s follow-up against Southern Illinois went to the visitors 58-51.
The Panthers struggled shooting the ball in the first half, converting just nine for 28 shots from the field, and trailed 26-24 at the break.
UNI opened the second half by scoring the first eight to take a six-point lead, however the Salukis took over with 8:14 remaining.
AJ Green led the Panthers with 16 points. Trae Berhow recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
UNI goes on the road next to meet Illinois State on Tuesday.
