The UNI Panther women’s basketball team finished five-for-five at the McLeod Center during their pre-Missouri Valley Conference home schedule, capped with a 79-50 win Friday versus the Omaha Mavericks.
Taylor Hagen scored 15 points on 7-8 shooting and the Panther defense was stifling from the opening tip. UNI held the Mavericks to 20-61 (32.8 percent) from the field, and just two converted three-pointers on 18 tries.
Ahead by 14 at halftime, the Panthers closed the third quarter with a 14-2 run to take a 57-34 lead into the final period. Along with Hagen’s scoring, Karli Rucker finished with 11, and ten Panthers had at least one point.
This is the first time UNI has been undefeated at home in non-conference play since 1999.
UNI returns to the road against Kansas State on December 29th at 1 p.m. in the final non-conference matchup of the year.
