Trae Berhow forced a North Dakota turnover as time ran out, giving the UNI Panthers a 64-62 win over the Fighting Hawks Saturday at the McLeod Center.
The late steal in the one-possession game prevented the visitors from attempting a potential game-tying or game-winning shot.
The second half was an exciting back-and-forth sequence, after UNI opened with a three-point lead. There were eight lead changes over the final 20 minutes with the score tied five times.
Junior Shandon Goldman had a career night for the Panthers, leading the team in both points (16) and rebounds (11). Berhow was four of nine from the field; all of his converted attempts were from 3-point range during a 12-point performance.
While AJ Green did not light up the scoreboard, he went four for four from the free throw line and recorded a team-high six assists.
Up next, the Panthers host Stony Brook on Saturday, December 29th at 7 pm.
