Three Panthers scored in double figures and the UNI women’s basketball team outdistanced Minnesota State 24-8 in the fourth quarter Wednesday to earn a 73-56 win at the McLeod Center.
The Panthers led by just one point when the period began. Heidi Hillyard hit back-to-back layups to open the scoring in the fourth quarter and jump-start the big outburst.
Karli Rucker led all scorers with 23 points while Ellie Howell and Mikaela Morgan each added 10.
The UNI defense forced 23 turnovers, a season-high. Hillyard was responsible for five steals.
The win moved UNI to 6-4 on the season and 4-0 at home this winter. The Panthers are back in action Friday versus Omaha in the final home non-conference game of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
