A scuffling start prevented the UNI Panther men’s basketball squad from keeping pace with the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday during a 77-54 neutral court loss at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Iowa jumped to a large lead in the first half, pulling ahead by as many as 21 points. UNI was limited to just 21.4 percent shooting during the opening 20 minutes, while Iowa drained 53 percent of their shots from the field.
Fifth-year UNI senior Wyatt Lohaus led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points while Shandon Goldman added 10.
Iowa forced 28 UNI turnovers.
The Panthers open a sequence of three straight home games next week on Wednesday against the Grand Canyon University Antelopes.
