The UNI Panther women’s basketball team limited to the IUPUI Jaguars to 11 points in the first quarter on Friday in Indianapolis. IUPUI didn’t get back to 11 in any of the quarters which followed, as the Panthers stifled their opponents in a 53-40 result.
UNI trailed 9-5 early but closed the opening period with an 8-2 run and cruised from there.
Karli Rucker scored a team-high 14 points while Mikaela Morgan and Ellie Howell added 10 each.
The Panthers held IUPUI to 15-46 (32.6 percent) from the field and forced 20 turnovers.
The Jaguars’ Macee Williams scored 13 of the Jaguars’ first 15 points but was shut out for rest of the game, including the entire second half.
Next, the Panthers return home to face North Dakota Tuesday at the McLeod Center at 7 p.m.
