The UNI Panther volleyball team goes on a two-game trip to the State of Indiana this weekend in control of their own destiny as they seek the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference volleyball regular season championship.
A pair of wins against Evansville and Indiana State would yield at least a share of the title, and if mixed with an Illinois State loss during the Redbirds’ finale against Bradley on Friday, the Panthers would claim the conference crown outright.
The Panthers took care of Missouri State in three sets Friday night, 25-18, 25-13, and 25-21.
Karlie Taylor led the way, recording 18 kills and 12 digs. Rachel Koop ended the match with 36 assists to go along with four block assists.
Saturday yielded another sweep against Southern Illinois, 25-16, 25-19, 26-24.
On senior night, senior Piper Thomas recorded 10 kills with a .304 attack percentage but the most impressive part of the night was her defensive play, recording one solo block and five block assists. Senior Kendyl Sorge added 12 digs and one assist in her final regular season match in the McLeod Center.
