WSOC: Panther Season Ends on Penalties

After 110 minutes of scoreless soccer, the sixth-seeded Evansville Purple Aces slipped past the third-seeded UNI Panthers on penalty kicks on Sunday at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.

The six-round penalty kick shootout was settled 3-2, with Evansville freshman Amanda DaSilva providing the winning conversion. Michaela Till stood her ground to deny four of UNI’s spot kick attempts. Till made six saves during regulation and overtime, as did UNI keeper Jami Reichenberger.

A howling wind, with gusts around 40 miles per hour, limited scoring opportunities throughout the match.

UNI’s year ends at 9-7-3, the third consecutive season in which the Panthers have finished .500 or better.
