The University of Northern Iowa women’s soccer team scored three first half goals Saturday in a 3-0 shutout versus Valparaiso. The win assured the Panthers a place in the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Soccer Tournament.
Sydney Hayden put the Panthers ahead in the eighth minute, capitalizing after Valpo goalkeeper Kezia Gesell’s initial save.
Jordyn Rolli scored in the 17th minute of action, using the wind to sail the ball past Gesell.
Hayden struck again in the 25th minute to put UNI up by three at the half.
Jami Reichenberger made a dozen saves, including ten in the second half, for the shutout.
The Panthers will conclude their regular-season on the road against Illinois State Thursday. A win would assure UNI a first-round home match in the MVC tournament.
