A facilities employee at the University of Northern Iowa died after a steam leak on campus yesterday(Mon) morning.
61-year old Kevin Bley died from injuries he received after an incident in the steam distribution system tunnel at the Rialto Dining Facility.
The UNI facilities services told administration the major steam leak at Rialto began just before 8:40 am.
UNI President Dr. Mark Nook issued a statement that said, in part, and these are his words, “Today our campus has lost a dedicated employee.” “Please keep Kevin’s family in your thoughts as they move through this difficult time.”
The dining facility had closed for maintenance and repair a week ago, from a previous steam leak that occurred last Tuesday, the 4th.
