Warmer and Drier Make Up for Weeks of Rain in Iowa Crop Fields

Warmer weather and drier conditions were helpful after weeks of rain according to the weekly Iowa Crop Progress report.

46% of the soybean crop was blooming, more than one week ahead of the average.  7% of soybeans are setting pods, three days ahead of last year and six ahead of the average, while 76% of Iowa soybeans are rated in good to excellent condition.

35% of the corn crop is in the silk stage, eight days ahead of last year and the five year average.  78% of the corn crop was rated in good to excellent condition.

Pasture conditions have declined to 64% good or excellent,  with heat and high humidity stressing livestock.
